Dear all,

So January has come and gone, but there is one resolution for this year I want to achieve. Making music has really picked up since I returned last year. It’s all just a journey of self discovery….

My resolution for this year is to release an album or even EP of my tracks on Bandcamp or any other internet music thing.

The difference to other stuff I have done, is this time I am going to really work on them, the composition and the sound. Both a challenge, but worth it. I may even get my tracks mastered (a new endeavour).

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

I feel I got to get my music out there so it can connect with people who are looking for it.

Loves in bounds of puppy dog licking!

Jamie Rama Productions 2014

Dear all,

For much of this year I haven’t been active with my music or the website, but I am very pleased to have picked it up towards the end of this year. This year I guess has been all about getting back into things and rekindling my flame for music and producing. With the advent of me starting to use Logic again, I am now having a ball of a time composing, whether it be songs or just ideas. However, after getting a little confused about what software to use, I realised to just go with the flow and not stress too much about it.

I think the main thing I have learnt is that when you play or compose music, its all about the energy and the feel that you put into it. Many times I have gotten lost somehow, but I am trying to overcome my difficulties. This latest track I believe showcases my creative energies well.

Love you loads. Bye

I feel peace – short piece

Dear all,

I have been finding it really difficult to move from Reason to Logic, cause it can be really addictive with Reason. I can get lost in the details with all the knobs and buttons, and never make any music. (plus I’ve used it for so long, you can become attached).

I know I am making the right move, (I think I always new Logic was better). The thing is, Reason just looks so good you wanna use it, but once you use a better program, you difference is plain to see. (And I notice, all the professionals use Logic, if not that then Pro Tools, no one ever mentions Reason, and there is a reason for that.

Logic is so much more professional, smooth, just so easy. Just check this piece below, literally in 10 minutes or so.

I promise you my loves, I reckon I am going to go further with Logic now then ever before and make better music than I previously didn’t think I could do!

I know you are all behind me and know how talented I am, I am going to get better at this!

Love you always

The start of something new! (composing, software and teachers advice)

Dear all,

You may not know this, but ever since I got unwell during early 2009 at uni I have found it really heard to compose. Not being able to go with the flow and getting stuck all the time.

But, slowly slowly I am realising what I need to to do get compose my music freely and let it come out.

I have just started using Logic again, after I realised I am not doing myself justice by not using it as I should be using professional software. I ain’t used logic properly since my first term at Guildhall in Sept 08 and I made some cracking music around that time. I basically been in Limbo all this time not accessing my full potential.

I am also realising these days, how lucky I am to have gone to study electronic music at Guildhall, cause they taught electronic music professionally and gave real professional advice from people that actually make a living out of it. There was one time earlier this year when my elective teacher was giving me honest professional advice about the industry, software, livelihood etc, and was actually a good guy who was looking out for me, but I remember not liking him. But now I realise,  I wasn’t ready to listen to him then.

It’s also taken me a long time to realise that I am a composer even though it says so in my bio.

Basically in a nutshell, I been in a dream I think all this time I think, and I am starting to believe in myself and making the choice to be professional about my music making.

There are so many things I want to try out as I am so talented at music, but who knows where my career will be, time will tell.

I think I am slowly becoming happy again lol, doing more things, and being responsible.

Love for all,

p.s. I hope one day I can tell you that I made it, doing what I love, earning a living and i dunno starting a family.

I like making music again

Dear all,

These days, I’ve got into this habit where I think too much, so much so that I end up not actually doing things, you know what I’m talking about?

but anyway, yesterday, I was getting ready to go out with my friends, and while I was in the house I noticed I was thinking a lot and just sitting in a chair lol

Then I thought of just making some music on Reason, and then BANG!

I had like an amazing experience composing, check out the result below. I can’t believe I made this in like an hour or less i dunno.

Man whats wrong with me.

New Direction

Dear all,

After giving it much thought, I have decided to take a new direction with this website.

I realise these days that my main strength in music comes from piano compositions and my ability to sing and write songs on the guitar.

I also realise now that my passion for electronic music really comes from my hobby of synthesisers.

So what this means is, I see myself as more of a musician who sings, plays piano and guitar, and has a hobby for synthesisers.

I can do other things like play clarinet, violin and use electronic music software, but I consider this extra and not my main focus. This has been a major milestone for me as I though I wanted to be a producer with a studio and record other artists etc.

Now I know I don’t have to take the electronic music so seriously and that it is ok just to be a musician who has a hobby in synths. I don’t have to be able to do everything, record, arrange, mix, I can leave that to someone else, who has strength in that area.

Of course no one told me to put pressure on myself, but I guess that’s what I did.

In terms of the website, this means that I won’t be releasing much electronic music anymore. My material will be focused more on piano and guitar composition and maybe some sounds I have made on a synthesiser, who knows?

The only project I’m working on these days is Scrapbook Dreams, which I hope to release hopefully by the end of this year.

I feel a lot calmer these days as I know I am doing the right thing and I am being realistic and true to myself.

Love for all,

Music Creation Pledge

Dear every person that exists on this earth,

I have decided to give myself a challenge to help me practice at composing electronic music.

Throughout the month of May, I am going to create a new piece of music every week. I will compose it and then later throughout that week I will edit it and add further ideas if necessary.

The most important thing for me is that I will let all this happen freely and will allow my ideas to flow. I will make sure that I don’t judge and not think too much about it. I also won’t expect myself to make completely finished songs either.

The main purpose of this challenge is to have fun making music.

I have noticed that I don’t have much electronic music on my Soundcloud and I know the reason why. I am a bit hesitant of putting music that I think is crap, or not completely amazing or something. But, i think its important for me to be able to accept the music that I create and be willing to share it with the world.

I was also really inspired by Propellerhead. (the people that make the music program called Reason) Two years ago in May, Propellerhead featured a music making month, where they had all different musicians, producers, sound designers, song writers, companies etc. come in and talk via live video and share their experience and give advice to others. It was beautiful, they also encouraged all the users to make music and send it to propellerhead so it could have a chance at appearing in the next video. What a wonderful idea this all was, and what a way to bring everyone together to talk, learn, and experience.

You can find all the videos on their Youtube channel.

So I hope you enjoy this guys, if it all goes well, I will continue until July 12th, which will mean that when I break up for the holidays on this day, I will have released ten tracks of new music.

Love to you all,

The Year Ahead

Dear all,

A new year has begun. I thought I would follow in the style of my friends, and make a post about my aims and what I hope to achieve this year. Below is the main projects that I will be working on:

Make a return to Youtubeland

I used to have a Youtube channel, but I deleted it one day after getting worried that people would think ill of me. I of course know now that these were only the fears I have about myself, and that I shouldn’t be ashamed or scared of who I AM. I plan to make my return to Youtube, but this time I will try something different and use it for a different purpose! I won’t give much away, but it will be more tailored towards my fans that are interested in making electronic music.

Social Outlook

I plan to also make more use of social networks like Facebook and Twitter! Richard has been telling me for a while that I should consider these avenues and now I think is the time for Jamie Rama Productions to join in! I aim to use these networks to share my work with others i am connected too, not so much to be popular, but to give people a chance to see my work if they are interested.

Jamie and the Sunshine Band!

Thats the name for me Dan and Mike, and the projects we work on! I plan to get together with these two Legends and turn these scrapbook dreams into a musical reality! I look forward to meeting these guys again this year as it is always such a pleasure to see them.

Did I hear you say, Piano Album…..VOL 2?

If any of you have been fans of my piano work, let me tell you, some more piano tunes are on their way! Ive been practising and crafting Vol 2 for a while now, but I plan to get it recorded and delivered by JRP this year!

Aliens write melodies?

I plan to work on this idea I have for an alien/soundscape/melodies/concept/project thingy i’m gonna be composing music for. I plan to release a small EP that will follow on the soft sound of “Peace” and if all goes well here, I will maybe create an album which will showcase a musical journey in space or something along those lines!

And last but not least….Jamie Rama Productions writes novels?

I have some interesting dreams you know guys! some of them are so good that I get the inspiration to one day make them into a story. I have already written a plan after I had a dream and the story is already there in my mind, I just have to go to that space, enter that world, and then write about it! Last year I thought I would try something new and had the idea about making a podcast…this year…..I want to release a story on Kindle!

Most important of all, I just want to enjoy this year and allow all to happen and flow into existence in their own time! I hope you have a beautiful year…may love blossom from your heart and show you the way!

Peace and Love, Jamie
